Three Steps to a Sane Economy

Amidst today's uncertainties, is an historic opportunity to secure our lives and the lives of those we love. First we must recognize the common cause of the financial and ecological crises - that human activity is touching planetary limits.

In order to achieve a balanced relationship with the Earth, we need to picture a new order in our hearts and in our minds. Then, each time we buy food, pump gas or have a conversation with a friend, we can advance long-term well-being. As enough minds ripen the images, change happens.

Greens vow equity, transparency in choosing candidates under MMP

Toronto - Thursday, Sept. 27, 2007 - Green Party of Ontario Leader Frank de Jong held a press conference at Queen's Park today to reveal the democratic process his party would use to choose list candidates under the Mixed Member Proportional (MMP) voting system.

"Some people are trying to mislead Ontarians by suggesting that MMP would allow parties to subvert the democratic process," Frank de Jong said. "They clearly underestimate the voting public."

The people of Ontario have a real conundrum ahead of them. The only party
with a position on faith-based schools that makes sense has no chance of
forming the government.

I'm talking about the Greens, who got together, hashed it out, and decided
that the government should fund one secular system (in both languages) and
leave private schooling to the private sector.

But the scientific community’s near-unanimous conclusion is that, if left unchallenged, climate change will make life very difficult for humans and drive many other species to extinction. Now is the time to take action.

Mixed Member Proportional Voting System

The Green Party urges every Ontarian to vote in favour of the Citizens' Assembly's recommendation in the Oct. 10 referendum.  The time is long overdue for Ontario to join the majority of democratic states worldwide whose voting systems ensure that every vote matters.
